Cara Delevingne is said to be "devastated" after losing her $7 million L.A. mansion in an early morning fire on Friday, March 15th.
The 31-year-old supermodel was in London when she learned about the blaze.
Delevingne's parents were quoted as saying the cause of the fire was "electrical," and that "something fell on a power line" during "very windy" weather.
Authorities are still investigating exactly how the fire started. Her mother, Pandora, said:
"She had everything in her house, her whole life. She built it, she made it. She has everything in it."
Delevingne posted to Instagram Friday, stating that she feared her beloved Persian cats had not escaped the flames.
"My heart is broken today. I cannot believe it. Life can change in a blink of an eye. So cherish what you have," the model wrote in a since-deleted Story post, according to the Daily Mail.
Delevingne later learned that the cats had been rescued, and expressed her gratitude to first responders: "They are alive!! Thank you to the firefighters," she posted.
Authorities confirmed that a house-sitter suffered "minor smoke inhalation," and an injured firefighter was taken to the hospital after falling from a ladder.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Delevingne purchased the 8,000-square-foot home in 2019 for $7 million. Per People, the home featured "blue-chip art, gifts from fashion designers, rare memorabilia and more than a few one-of-a-kind customizations."
In a 2021 feature in Architectural Digest, Delevingne described her home as a space that reflects her "mad, crazy ideas.”
She has not said whether she'll use her $50 million fortune to rebuild the home in the Hollywood Hills, but her multi-layered career all but guarantees she'll continue to prosper.
RelatedDelevingne, originally from London, bravely kept a stiff upper lip on Friday night, to perform the role of Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret in the city's West End.
Although it hasn't been revealed how much she's making for her theater debut – which runs from March until June – we do have insight into her other lucrative career moves.
Delevingne dropped out of school at the age of 17, and began her career as a model in the 2010s, becoming known for her "signature eyebrows."
Her "breakout season" came in 2012, when the model walked in more than 20 fashion shows for "Fashion Weeks" in New York, London, Paris, and Milan.
She was named "Model of the Year" at the British Fashion Awards in 2012 and 2014.
Delevingne's career skyrocketed from there, and she is now one of the world's highest paid supermodels, earning an estimated $9 million a year.
RelatedYahoo News estimated in 2022 that Delevingne brings in roughly $40,000 a day from her modeling, as well as through acting in films like Suicide Squad and Anna Karenina.
She and her family own a company called Harvey White Properties – which the Daily Mail called a "property empire" – with prime real estate in the UK, including luxury fashion shops.
She also owns "two subsidiary companies in America, Cara Co (US) Inc and Hot Mess Industries LLC." In 2021, Delevingne joined forces with sisters Poppy and Chloe by launching a "vegan" prosecco company called Della Vite.
As if model, actor, and entrepreneur weren't enough, Delevingne also added the titles "singer/songwriter" to her resume.
In 2017, she released a single called "I Feel Everything," which was produced by Pharrell Williams. Other tracks have followed, and her music videos can be found on her YouTube channel.

In 2020, the multi-millionaire poignantly mused: "Money is not everything. You get to the point where you’re like, 'Oh, I’ve made money but I’m so deeply unhappy and alone.'"
Delevingne raised concerns in 2023, when she purportedly began behaving "erratically," and was photographed looking confused and disheveled.
Rumors swirled that she had a substance abuse disorder, and Delevingne later told Vogue magazine that she was grateful for the photos and the "wake-up call" they provided:
Sometimes you need a reality check, so in a way, those pictures were something to be grateful for ...
Delevingne said she reached out to famous friends like Margot Robbie for help, and completed a twelve-step program in rehab.
"This process obviously has its ups and downs, but I've started realizing so much," she said.
As Delevingne continues her journey of self-discovery and realization, it will be exciting to see what projects this resilient and multi-faceted artist will take on next.
